The
lighting of venues has many purposes, its main purpose being able to provide ambient
lighting, which can form an atmosphere within the room the event is being
produced. When used within performances people usually want different colours and vibrancies.

There
are 4 elements you need to consider with lighting:
(FIG 1. Beam Light)
A Beam light produces a direct light beam. These can be used for lighting design.
(Fig.2. Profile Spot)
The profile spot has a defined conic volume in which its light
can fall. These can help highlight single performers.
(Fig. 3.Wash light)
The wash light has a bright centre but a soft outline. This is used for a wider coverage of the stage.
Support:
Scaffolding, Trusses and Grids are all forms
of support.
Control:
C: You can use the alphanumeric keypad to type in
commands for light functions.

Power is needed to turn on the lights. You can
adjust how strong you want you light to be by using dimmers and
distribution.
Control:
This is a lighting control desk, which can:
A: adjust the “levels” on stage lighting
dimmers
B: control lighting systems and media
servers
C: You can use the alphanumeric keypad to type in
commands for light functions.
